On a rainy Manchester day on the 26th of May 2024, Emma Lavelle, Sam Lavelle and Andy Tickle ran a total of 30km to raise funds and awareness for Bury Hospice.

Each year, the team run in Manchesters 10km, shoulder to shoulder with our wonderful customers; Greenhalghs bakery. The aim is to help different charities out each year, whilst getting fit and active at the same time. This year, the chosen charity was Bury Hospice.

Lavelle’s started the fund raising off by donating £1,000 with a target of raising £2,000. “we were over the moon with the tremoundous and generous support of our staff, customers and suppliers! We hit our target of £2,000 within a matter of days, however we didnt think we would make it past £3,000.” Says Director Sam Lavelle. “our partners and customers Greenhalghs picked Bury Hospice as the charity of the year and we are delighted to help raise much needed funds to help them with their vital work”.

As a local, family business, the whole team at Lavelle’s love to get involved where possible to help an array of fantastic charties.

Bury Hospice opened its doors in June 1991 and the charity has helped thousands of people through some of the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care. It costs us £4m to run our services with a 13% contribution from the NHS. The remainder is raised via our income generation streams which includes fundraising, retail and lottery. taken from https://www.buryhospice.org.uk/about.
